Easter Egg Hunting at Northcote Road

We had so much fun doing the Fabergé egg hunt, we decided to do our own at Trotters. Our’s was much better, of course, because you got to eat the eggs at the end! All four London stores did an Easter Egg hunt during the holidays and it was great to see so many little customers having a go. Here’s what happened when we stopped in at Northcote Road …

First of all, we met William. He only popped in for a haircut but before long he was in hot pursuit of some chocolatey treats! Trotters own (not so new) Mum devised the cunning clues to six locations around the store where a pack of stickers were hidden, and once the egg-quester had six stickers on their card, they got a tasty reward. Simple.

William is a real brainbox. He solved the hardest clue in no time at all and was on to the next while we were still scratching our heads. “I’m white and blue, my name’s Eloise and there’s a skirt made for me”. We were stumped. Meanwhile, William was looking for something that goes “baa” during bath-time …

Squirters! Farmyard squirters to be precise. And then he was off again! Something red to keep your feet dry … shiver me timbers, a puzzle for mateys … knobbly knees and turned out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose (the Gruffalo, duh!) … We could barely keep up with him as he flew around the shop! It wasn’t long before he was presenting his stickers to the Keeper-of-Chocolate and claiming a much deserved reward.

Good work, William! In fact, good work to everyone who joined in the Easter Egg hunts. We had so much fun, that we might apply to do the Easter bunny’s job for him next year!

Easter Competition – the winners!

Now that we’ve finished stuffing our faces with chocolate, we’ve put our heads together and picked a winner for the Easter Competition. It was hard work – we got tons of entries and they were all fabulous! We so want to give a prize to everyone, but the lucky winner has to be 6-year-old Leila who got really busy with her pencils and glitter and didn’t just colour Dunwoody’s egg, but made him a hat and a garden too. Congratulations!

Leila’s Jellycat duckling is on its way, and so are our runner-up goodybags for 6-year-old Celeste, 9-year-old Tom and Annabel who is 2 and a quarter. Well done again to everybody who entered, you can see the whole gallery here.

Valentine’s Poem Competition Winners

Last week we felt a bit loved-up and asked our Facebook fans to show off their literary talents and compose a Valentine’s poem. As an extra incentive, we offered our enormous furry friend Edward as a prize!

We were thrilled to have so many participants and had a challenge choosing a winner – apparently there’s no shortage of bards among our fans! First prize went to Faridah Brooker, and here is her winning entry …

There is a place in London Town,
Where no-one ever wears a frown,
Where stylish clothes for girls and boys
Rub shoulders with fun, original toys,
You can have a cuddle with Edward Bear
Whilst someone even cuts your hair!
For 21 years this ‘house of fun’
Has been bringing joy to everyone,
So for all the great things mentioned above’
TROTTERS is the place I love!

Congratulations to Faridah, and to our runners up – Paula, Melissa, and Christine will all  receive one of Edward’s little bear brothers. You can see their poems and all of the entries on our Facebook page, as well as details of new competitions as they happen.
